OUR STORY

A Legacy of
Changing Lives

Initiated locally in 1994, YFC-IV continues a history of youth evangelism and discipleship that began with Friday night Street Levels meetings. In 1996, Todd Evangelist became executive director and the ministry began to focus on campus outreach. For more than a decade YFC has been the vehicle for local youth pastors and leaders to meet students on campus and give them the opportunity to get connected to a local church. The work continues today, as the torch was passed on to Executive Director Jeremiah Vik. Currently engaging over 700 students each week at 18 different ministry sites, YFC impacts thousands of teenagers in the Imperial Valley.

In the USA

Youth for Christ/USA has had a distinctive history of youth evangelism. In 1944 Billy Graham and Torrey Johnson held a Youth for Christ rally in Chicago. The ministry of YFC spread like wildfire across the USA. Today at thousands of community centers, high schools, middle schools, juvenile institutions, coffee shops, and local hangouts, YFC staff and volunteers meet with young people who need Jesus. YFC/USA is part of a world-wide movement of Youth for Christ International. We are knit together with our common mission, vision, statement of faith, and passion to reach young people with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. OUR MISSION

TO REACH YOUNG
PEOPLE EVERYWHERE

YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to prayer and the Word of God, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

    1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

    2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

    3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

    4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

    5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

    6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

    7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.

    1. Widespread Prayer - We deliberately engage lots of Christians to intercede on behalf of the ministry site.

    2. Loving Relationships - We consistently pursue lost kids & engage them in life-long relationships with Jesus.

    3. Faithful Bible Teaching - We accurately handle Biblical truth, regularly coaching kids to apply it in their lives

    4. Collaborative Community Strategy - We intentionally work together with local churches, agencies and other partners to provide sustainable youth and family ministry.

    5. Adults Who Empower - We strategically develop leaders to reach young people from every people group.

  • Youth for Christ staff and volunteers are encouraged and trained to live a 3Story life: A way of life that guides followers of Christ to BE good news while telling stories of THE Good News. It is a way of seeing how the relationships we have with other people and God can be connected and grown. 3Story is not an evangelism tool or method, it is who we want to be and how we want to live. OUR BOARD

The Board of Directors is made up of caring, concerned adults from the community. Our board provides direction, oversight, and vision for the Executive Director. The team meets monthly for prayer, ministry updates, and strategic planning.
